  73. A NOTE ON JAVA SUPPORT

  76. As of Version 1.29, Teleport Pro uses an internal Java applet binary parser,
  77. and doesn't need to use the older "JavaPack" system distributed with previous
  78. versions of Teleport Pro.  If you have upgraded a Teleport Pro v1.28 or
  79. previous installation, you can delete the files in the "bin" subdirectory
  80. (there should be two files in that folder, CLASSES.ZIP and JAVAP.EXE), as
  81. those files are no longer necessary.

  85. 32-BIT WINSOCK REQUIRED
  86. =======================

  88. Teleport Pro requires that you use a 32-bit winsock dll for
  89. your Internet connections.  In most cases, the Windows Dial-Up Networking
  90. system will satisfy this requirement.  Some third-party winsocks, such as
  91. Trumpet, are also compatible with Teleport Pro.  If you are unsure of whether
  92. you are using a 32-bit winsock connection, contact your ISP or the
  93. organization that provided you with your connection software.

  95. Some third-party utilities can convert between a 16-bit winsock and an
  96. application like Teleport Pro that requires a 32-bit connection.  One such

  103. MICROSOFT WINDOWS 95 BUG NOTE

  106. Microsoft has confirmed that a bug in the Windows 95 operating system may
  107. cause your computer to crash while using the Internet.  The bug slowly leaks
  108. resources each time a connection is established to the Internet.  Because
  109. Teleport Pro establishes many, many connections to the Internet while
  110. running, it is important that you install a patch from Microsoft that
  111. corrects this problem.  Microsoft makes the patch for United States users

  128. Microsoft's Service Pack 1 contains a bug that can corrupt your system
  129. registry if you use Dial-Up Networking, or if you run applications that
  130. access Dial-Up Networking registry information (as Teleport Pro does).
  131. Microsoft has released a patch that corrects this bug.  The patch can be

  141. MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER 3.0 BUG NOTE

  144. Microsoft has confirmed that a bug in their Internet Explorer 3.0 Beta 2
  145. causes other applications' toolbar buttons to display as if disabled.
  146. Teleport Pro users will notice that the Refresh, Start, Pause, Stop, and
  147. Abort buttons of those programs will not appear to function properly if
  148. Internet Explorer 3.0 Beta 2 has been installed (although the buttons will
  149. continue to work).

  151. Microsoft has now released the Final Version of Internet Explorer 3.0.  This
  152. version corrects the toolbar bug in Beta 2.  Tennyson Maxwell strongly
  153. encourages users who still have the Beta 2 version to pick up the final

  161. REGISTERING TELEPORT PRO

  164. Teleport Pro is shareware.  You are granted a free license to use this
  165. software 40 times, after which the license and the software both expire.  If
  166. you decide that you like Teleport Pro -- and we hope that you do! -- you can
  167. register it, keep it, and use it as much as you like.  Registering the
  168. program is just like buying it. There are really two good reasons to
  169. register Teleport Pro:

  171.    1.  The program, and your license to use it, expire after you have used it
  172.        40 times.
  173.    2.  Until you register it, Teleport Pro will only retrieve up to 500 files
  174.        per project.
  175.  
  176. For now, registration costs only $39.95 US.  And your registration is valid
  177. for all upgrades to the Teleport Pro product.  This means that your
  178. registration number will work on every upgrade we release.  In fact, if you
  179. send us your email address when you register, weÆll notify you automatically
  180. every time we issue an upgrade.

  182. We can accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit cards.
  183. We can also accept checks or money orders drawn on a United States bank, or
  184. a foreign bank with a United States clearing house.

  186. To register Teleport Pro, simply select Register from the Help menu.
  187. Teleport Pro will display the Registration dialog box.  There are two
  188. options for sending us your registration information:

  190. Secure Server:  Press this button to launch your browser and visit our
  191. Secure Server.  Your order will be processed online and you will receive a
  192. registration code immediately!  Choose this option for fastest service.  You
  193. must have a secure browser (such as Netscape or Microsoft) to use this option.

  196. Mail/Email/Fax: Press this button to display the Order Form and print it or
  197. save it to disk.  You can then mail or email it to us, or fax it to us.
